HPurple Day® is the Global Day for epilepsy awareness which is celebrated annually on March 26. The color purple represents the isolation so many people with epilepsy feel. The international sponsors are the Anita Kaufman Foundation, which owns the rights to the Purple Day® name in the U.S. and the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia.
The Epilepsy Association has been busy planning events for celebrating Purple Day in Cleveland! Similar to last year, we will recognize Purple Day with two weeks of celebrations, March 12-18 & 19-26. The goal is to schedule an activity for each day during the two weeks to help celebrate Purple Day throughout the community and raise more awareness. An activity calendar will be posted on Facebook as planning continues.
We are also hosting a Purple Day Power Lunch on the topic of Seizure Dogs. Dr. Jun Park from University Hospitals will be presenting along with a parent panel. This program will also include a Q&A session. The Power Lunch is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and spots are limited to the first 40 paid RSVPs. Click here to purchase tickets.
For the 2017 campaign, we hope to expand the number of companies and schools that host Purple Day awareness and fundraising activities and grow the overall success of this campaign.
